Conservation Framing
The display area of the case can be backed in 6mm corkboard or 6mm foam core for easy mounting. A conservation grade board is supplied that is inserted between the cork board and the poster to prevent any migration of acid from the backing boards into the artwork. This is made from conservation or cotton museum quality grade board at least 1100 microns thick.
Glazing
The frame comes with standard glass, however we do offer a range of glazing options and highly recommend the use of plexiglass, as it is clear and visually indistinguishable from glass, yet will not break and pose a threat to your safety or that of your artwork. Museum quality UV-filtering plexiglass and glass are available and recommended for your valuable posters to protect them as the UV spectrum in sun and florescent light is highly damaging to printed material and fading can rapidly occur from excess exposure.
Finish
Spray Painted
The display cases are available in a spray applied low sheen lacquer coating. It creates a hard smooth satin finish and is currently available in two colours Black and Cream.
Brush Painted
Another option is to have your display case supplied with a hand applied brush finish. This is a little softer than the spray paint but creates a more natural and authentic look. We can use any colour or make of paint you may request but we do prefer using the traditional oil based eggshell and gloss paints manufactured by Farrow & Ball. They produce a beautiful range of colours that will ensure your display case frame will compliment any room.
